Battle of the Bands for schools to come forward to be involved in

  • Mood: Happy
  • Music: acoustic

Our commitment to making a difference!!

We at the Lynn Grocott Academy know how important contribution is

We aim to raise a substantial sum of money for chosen charities.

Lynn has already raised eleven thousand pounds to build a mother and baby unit in Bamenda, Cameroon. The unit now serves many mothers and babies....!

On the evening of May 16th 2009, Lynn and Richard are going to be hosting a five thousand ticket music concert at Trentham Gardens in Staffordshire.

Richard is an experienced production director who has great experience hosting large scale company events.
During the day of the 16th May we will be hosting a children’s concert, once again with five thousand capacity.

The proceeds from both the day and evening will be donated to Douglas Macmillan Hospice in Trentham, Staffordshire. The reason behind doing this is a personal one as Lynn's husband has terminal cancer and has not been given long to live. The intention is to ensure his name lives on and to make some good come from a difficult situation.  This event is hoped to raise well in excess of one hundred thousand pounds for the hospice.

Our overall goal is to raise one million pounds in five years for local charites.
.

We have secured Trentham Gardens in North Staffordshire who are prepared to donate the use of the site for the event and to be our main ticket seller, they are offering large scale promotion. We will be using the media, and all avenues possible.

The music at night time will begin at seven pm through till eleven pm. one of the warm up bands will be "The Swinging Sixties" who have an excellent reputation and are actively followed by people from the UK. They have also played in other countries.

Costings for the event amount to £75,000, and we now need to secure sponsors to enable us to ensure this event happens.
In return for sponsoring the event we have worked out various sponsorship packages, the platinum package will give the company main stage promotion, stands in the ground during both the day and night, LCD screen promotion to all ticket holders. We then have gold, silver and bronze packages to offer too, each with a sliding scale of company promotion

During the day of the 16th May 2009 at the same venue we will be hosting a very different event for schools who wish to be involved............ " Battle of the Bands competition", once again there will be a five thousand capacity. Schools will be expected to provide their own band...........either rock, pop, soul, metal, duo or acoustic

Each band will have to register with their names and band name and genre of music. Each band will play 2 songs and will be judged by a panel on their musical ability and recording suitability. The winner will announced on the day and will open the night time concert with one or two songs so that they will support whoever is the headline act. They will then get to spend a day in a recording studio at Stoke on Trent university.
Each band must provide their own instruments and Amps and have 3 road crews to assist with change-overs. Each band must play one cover song and one original song. Each band must consist entirely of musicians from the same school.
We really believe that this is going to be one of the most prestigious events that schools can be involved in. Places for schools are limited and in order to reserve their place we need them to express their interest by return of email.
We will be creating our booking forms shortly and once we have a list of interested schools we will then be writing to confirm that they are one of our selected schools for this event

From Victims to Victors

  • Mood: really happy
  • Music: enya

Both Lynn Grocott and Elizabeth Brown have decided to join forces and to develop a website together, this means that the world is being bought together. Lynn lives in Staffordshire, England whilst Elizabeth lives in Washington, over in America. It is time to put distance behind us and to bring together our experiences of life which we hope will have a lot of impact on others in a very positive way!

Both of us left the victim mode behind some time ago and decided to live for today. We know that life is not a dress rehearsal and we intend going for our dreams.

Lynn Grocott's autobiography "Cut the Strings" is now on the shelves of bookshops waiting to be read by those who wish to know how to free themselves of the past and to start living. Taking people on a journey through a past which was fair from rose coloured, it shows how life can change to one which is wonderful to live.

Elizabeth's autobiography will not be far behind and it too tells a story of a woman who has faced abuse for many years. It shows how with fight, determination and strength life can become awsome and well worth waking up to each day.

Now Lynn's passion for life is coupled with a love of NLP, this is what makes coaching something she is humbled to be doing. Elizabeth too is full of passion and her wonderful spirit means she is able to care for the people who she works with as she facilitates their change from victim to victor.

The Challenge is on

  • Mood:
  • Music:

Million Pound Challenge is now on!!

Dear readere
I have set myself a target of raising a large sum for a charity called WYCE
If you click on the website you will see why I have chosen this awesome charity.........................................
www.wonderyearsce.co.uk
I AM HUMBLED WITH THE WORK ALREADY DONE
I WANT TO SEE IT GROW THROUGHOUT OTHER VILLAGES AND I KNOW THAT EACH PENNY MAKES A DIFFERENCE TO THE PEOPLE IN MEDINA BECAUSE IT GOES STRAIGHT INTO THIS FANTASTIC PROJECT

I had a lovely surprise today when a close friend of mine emailed to say he was going to be making out a standing order form for a regular donation each month. With acts such as this we are starting to build up a way of sustaining this charity for a long time to come. Not only that, we will be able to ensure the work grows.
When I emailed back to say "Thank you" and explained what he had done this is the response I got back
Hi Lynn
I am blown away by the difference that makes. There is tears in my eyes reading what you wrote.
I will fill the forms out and get them back to you tomorrow.
I know that this is the way forward for WYCE and as my commitment to this charity I am aiming to get people who will set up a standing order for a small amount each month.
Any sum of money can be donated and will make such a huge difference to the lives of the people of Medina...................... for example £6 pounds is enough to pay for a cataract operation and renew a persons sight!!

I cannot thank you enough for reading this. If you feel you can help in person or know someone who may be prepared to help, I will be thrilled to hear from you, I will then send you all the information and forms needed to get started
The gift aid form allows us as a charity an extra twenty five percent of the amount of your donation without you having to do anything
Thank you once again
warm regards
Look forward to hearing from you
